A Year At New York Academy of Art

A year has passed and I had said my time at NYAA had been an enjoyable time of growth in my art development. I still have a lot to grow being humble by my professors whom taught me a lot in the area of  technical profiency in my craft and art career advise. I like to give some thanks to those who had made my experience at NYAA most memorable. Thanks Sharon Laudon for the professional boot camp and gunshot introduction to life after graduate school. Thanks to my instructors who I look forward to see next year-
Steven Assael-thanks for inviting us to your studio and see how dedicated an artist should be to observation.
Jean-Pierre Roy- thanks for instructing us to see paint differently in term of optical grammer and better use of our medium.
John Jacobsmeyer- thanks for instructing us to see composition symbolically, visual symbotically, functionally, in photography/film grammer, etc.
Edger Jerin- thanks for instructing us to read the movement of a pose immediately and compose our drawing from the inside out.
Frederick Mershimer- thanks for introducing the love of etching prints again, the hard work of learning this new tool will aid my visual vocabulary.

I had grown with a group of talented artists who I am remind that finding an art community is a rare thing.
There are times when I want to quit and probably should not have skip classes I managed to get by this boot camp I call graduate school. Thanks Robert P since beginning of school through the hard knocks of academy life. Thanks Cory Dixion for the small talk and conversations in the hallway. Thanks Nicolas for being fresh eyes to judge my work and being an inspiration for us all.
A lot had happened in a year being introduce to NYC art scene, Thursday night Chelsea art openings, NYAA alumnis and visiting artists, etc.
I still can't believe in a few days I will be leaving for Germany my gratitude owe to NYAA for selecting as a finalist of the Leipzig 2012 Artist Fellowship. I will be away for 2 months from June 1st-July 31st at the New Leipzig School making art for a group show in July. This will be my first time oversea in Europe with much to be excited about and adventures await me.
